The Distracted Woman's Daybook (17)

Holmes and Watson
So, I have a confession to make, and I'm going to make it now, before I blog about the BSI Weekend in a few weeks and attract a temporary influx of likely-to-be-offended Sherlockian traffic. Ready? Good.

Here goesCollapse )

The Distracted Woman's Daybook (12)

The Distracted Woman's Daybook (11)

Holmes and Watson
Okay, so I had been working on a post about how it's kind of a shame, given that our culture is rethinking marriage and all, that the partriarchal terms "husband" and "wife" not only persist, but are evidently the terms preferred even among those newly permitted to legally wed. However, said post was getting lengthy, I was getting bogged down in my argument, and I'm not even sure there's much point to someone like me weighing in on the subject. So, instead, I will dig out the old template and fall back on my favorite meme.

New 'Daybook'!Collapse )

Holmes, Sweet Holmes

Holmes and Watson
So it's the second day of finals week at College #1, and I'm sitting here in a classroom waiting for students to drop off term papers. I know I can't put off grading them for long, so I guess if I want to post something this week I'd better start it now, in my waning pre-frenzied moments. :-) Should I make it a Daybook? It *has* been more than a week since my last one... but, nah, that seems to be all I do here these days. Resisting the temptation to open the template, then, I'll just reach into my mind and grab the first thing I come across. Ready?

My BSI Weekend - Part Seven (of Seven)

Holmes and Watson
Well, this is it. My final post about the BSI Weekend, after which I will go back to either ignoring this blog or using it to whine about my sorrows, unless another cool event comes up to distract me. Here's hoping! (Umm, hoping for a distracting event, that is, provided it's a fun one and not a crisis.)

Meanwhile, here's what happened on the Saturday and Sunday which concluded my 2013 Baker Street Irregulars Weekend.

My BSI Weekend - Part Six (of Seven)

Holmes and Watson
I've adjusted the titles of my BSI Weekend posts to reflect the fact that I'm expecting to end up with seven total (i.e., you'll only have to put up with one more after this one). Today's entry will deal with the three Friday activities I attended (now four weeks ago!), and the final installment will cover Saturday and Sunday together (since I'm light on pictures for those days, and Sunday was only a half-day anyhow). Hard to believe I'm still posting about the BSIW, but I've been so insanely busy with the start of the Spring semester that I haven't had time for LJ. Plus, I always take my time when it matters -- and I enjoyed myself so much in NYC that it definitely matters to me to have a reasonably thorough record.

My BSI Weekend - Part Five (of Seven)

Holmes and Watson
While I've got some momentum going, I'll continue with my BSI Weekend reminiscences. To those who prefer the précis approach, I'm sorry I can't seem to manage it, but (1) at least you've got pictures to look at (well, you will do as long as I can find sources to supplement my patchy collection), and (2) at least I'm not lavishing this level of excruciating detail on my *usual* mopey topic! Now, ready to hear what I did for the rest of my Thursday?
